Iberzoo + Propet 2023 has closed its VII edition showing a very united sector that has revalidated the call as the great fair of the professional pet industry. The fair has managed to grow in the participation data, positioning itself as a key event in the sector in Europe with 12% more participants than the previous year, reaching the figure of 18,970 professional attendees.
In addition, it is reaffirmed in the international calendar with a 30% increase in foreign participation compared to 2022. This figure is largely supported by the participation of direct exhibitors from outside Spain, achieving the presence of 228 companies from 15 countries, which represents 16% of the total number of exhibitors at Iberzoo + Propet. Likewise, there has also been a significant presence of international visitors, coming from a total of 47 countries, which demonstrates the relevance and global impact of the fair in the pet industry.
The event, organized by IFEMA MADRID, and promoted by AMVAC- the Madrid Association of Companion Animal Veterinarians- and AEDPAC- the Spanish Association of Industry and Commerce of the Companion Animal sector, has been the meeting point for professional groups in the sector, which has allowed Iberzoo + Propet to grow in participation data, positioning the fair as a key event for the sector in Europe.
Growing participation data
The celebration of Iberzoo+Propet, for the first time carried out entirely on weekdays, has seen the participation data of firms grow: 16% more space occupation with 12% more direct exhibitors.

In total, the attending professionals have come from 57 countries: Germany, Andorra, Angola, Saudi Arabia, Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Czech Republic, Chile, China, Cyprus, Colombia, Costa Rica, Denmark , Ecuador, United Arab Emirates, Slovenia, Spain, United States, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Grenada, Greece, Guatemala, Hungary, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Libya, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Morocco, Mexico, Norway, the Netherlands, Panama, Peru, Poland, Portugal, the United Kingdom, Romania, Russia, Serbia, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine and Venezuela.
The content of Iberzoo+Propet, a key element of success
The success of this seventh edition has also been a consequence of the interesting and original program of activities presented by the recently closed call. From the AEDPAC Forum, which has witnessed in its fifth call the main debates on current issues that affect the sector; the Artero conferences held for another year with full capacity with the most important speakers from around the world in dog styling; the XL VetMadrid Congress, held with more than 3,000 veterinarians at the IFEMA MADRID North Convention Center, to the Canine Styling Scenario with workshops from the companies Artero, Procan or the Italian IV San Bernard.
Recognitions in La Tarde del Sector
One more year, for the third time, La Tarde del Sector has already become a highly anticipated moment in each edition of Iberzoo+Propet. This afternoon, in addition to knowing the state of the sector with the latest data extracted by AMVAC and AEDPAC, the Antón Awards, the sector's awards, will be given. In said call, there have been five awards given in the following categories: Best Retail Trade in Spain for Koala Mascotas from Santa Cruz de Tenerife; the second prize in the category of Professional Trajectory in the Professional Field for Álex Artero, CEO of Artero; the third recognition for José Ramón Escribano, for his Professional Career in the Veterinary Field; the fourth trophy in the category of Initiative in favor of the rescue of people in disaster situations to the Spanish School of Rescue and Detection with Dogs. And, finally, the fifth Antón Award in the Professional category Animal Protection Field for Global Vets Aid.
In addition to the Antón Awards, Iberzoo+Propet wanted to value solidarity and innovation in the sector. In this way, the Eureka Animal Protection Awards valued at €3,000 were awarded to the Animals with a New Course Association, and the Impulso Award to the startup The Doog Life, whose recognition consists of a stand at the Iberzoo+Propet 2024 edition.
