Iberzoo Propet 2025 was visited by more than 21,000 pet industry professionals.
A total of 273 companies showcased the best of an industry that generates nearly 3 billion euros annually.
Madrid, March 3, 2025.- The International Trade Fair for Pet Professionals, Iberzoo Propet 2025, closed its eighth edition – 16th in the case of Propet – on February 28 with record participation. A total of 21,612 professionals in the pet industry visited the event, which showcased the latest innovations from 273 companies – a 33% increase compared to the previous 2024 edition – including 208 Spanish companies (+25%) and 65 foreign companies (+71%) from 12 countries. Hall 10 of IFEMA MADRID, covering 22,000 sqm of gross area and 9,855.5 sqm of net area (+14%), hosted this extensive exhibition along with a comprehensive program of events held from February 26 onward.
Iberzoo Propet 2025 aligned with the objectives of the Directorate-General for Animal Rights, under the Ministry of Social Rights, Consumer Affairs, and the 2030 Agenda, which actively participated in the event to promote animal welfare and protection.
The success of the event was made possible thanks to the renewed support of the Madrid Association of Companion Animal Veterinarians (AMVAC) and the Spanish Association of the Pet Industry and Trade (AEDPAC) – the event’s promoters – as well as other key industry organizations: AEVET, Spanish Association of Clinical Veterinarians; ANFAAC, National Association of Pet Food Manufacturers; CEVE, Spanish Veterinary Business Confederation; the VET+i Foundation, and VETERINDUSTRIA, the Spanish Business Association of Animal Health and Nutrition.
Iberzoo Propet 2025 once again highlighted the innovative nature of an industry comprising 10,188 companies and 7,021 clinics, which last year generated 2.863 billion euros in revenue, reflecting a 9.2% increase compared to 2023, and creating 44,500 direct jobs. This sector serves the 15 million dogs and cats in Spain.
The growing importance of pets in Spain aligns with societal attitudes in neighboring countries – according to the TGM Research Study (2023), 72% of Portuguese households have at least one pet. Additionally, the significance of the Portuguese market for the Spanish pet industry led Iberzoo Propet to designate Portugal as its first-ever guest country.
Industry Analysis
This reality was reflected in reports presented on February 27 at the "Industry Afternoon" session, where AMVAC introduced a preview of its Sector Report, and AEDPAC presented its "Trends and Habits Barometer of Pet Parents in Spain and Portugal."
Both organizations also held their respective professional gatherings. AMVAC hosted the 42nd Vetmadrid Congress under the theme "Medicine and Surgery of the Musculoskeletal System and Nervous System", attracting 2,539 registered attendees.
"The congress welcomed more than 2,300 veterinarians across nine conference rooms over three days, featuring keynote lectures by 30 renowned experts in their fields,” said Víctor Fernández, President of AMVAC and Chairman of the Vetmadrid Organizing Committee. He added, “As in previous editions, Veterinary Assistants and Animal Protection Organizations were also invited to participate this year.” AMVAC announced that its 2026 edition will focus on Medicine and Surgery of the Cardiorespiratory System.
Meanwhile, AEDPAC hosted its 7th "Forum of the Pet Industry and Trade in Spain", covering topics such as whether Spain is truly a "pet-friendly" country, global trends shaping the international pet care market, new diets for companion animals, the importance of CSR policies for pet industry brands, and the impact of the Medication Law on the veterinary field, among others.
"This seventh edition solidifies the FORUM as the premier event for discussing, debating, and analyzing the current state of the pet industry, trade, and business sector in Spain,” stated Ignasi Solana, event commissioner and Secretary-General of AEDPAC. He added that it was “a space to generate valuable content and identify market trends through insights from leading experts, industry figures, and specialists.”
The FORUM attracted more than 500 professionals who attended various round tables and conferences delivered by 31 speakers over the three-day Iberzoo Propet 2025 event.
Other activities organized at Iberzoo Propet 2025 included scientific presentations by exhibitors in the Veterinary Classroom, dog grooming demonstrations by brands like Artero, and business-oriented talks offering advice on pet business management, profitability strategies, and more – all hosted on a dedicated stage.
The event concluded with the "Industry Afternoon" on February 27, where, following the presentation of the AMVAC and AEDPAC industry reports, the Antón and Impulso Awards were presented in recognition of achievements in the sector.
The Antón Awards, now in their fourth edition, recognized professionals across various categories: - The Veterinary Career Achievement Award went to José Luis Puchol, Clinical Veterinarian. - The Professional Career Achievement Award went to Gemma Vivet, CEO of Grup Gepork/Centauro. - The Best Retail Pet Store in Spain Award was given to Tumascota, Pamplona. - The CSR Policy Award was presented to Isabel Buil, Director of the Affinity Foundation. - The Animal Protection Career Award was given to the College of Veterinarians of Valencia for its efforts during the DANA storm. - The Initiative for Enhancing Pet-Friendly Urban Living Award was presented to Pipper on Tour.
